Good afternoon Science English students! Today is Thursday, October 1st. Your next semester of Science English begins tomorrow. Here is a new blog entry to help you get adjusted to the new semester.
As for last semester, almost everyone passed with grades of S, A, B, a few C's, 1 D, and some others. As you know your grades are based on the homework, the designs and presentations, the quizzes, and the examination scores. Actually, the exams were not as good as I thought they may be. This was probably due to the Acronym/Abbreviation section, where most students had trouble. The other sections were quite good, and most of you wrote and answered appropriately. The tests weren't fantastic, but since the grades were based on many facets, including homework, designs, presentations, and volunteering, almost all of you passed the course in the 1st semester.
This semester we will be doing somewhat similar things in the class, although I would like to give more attention to creative Science English work, including more designs, more group work, and even short audio/video presentations regarding science topics in English. We will use the book and still have homework. I'm not sure how much homework we will have, but whatever we do will be useful for you in the future.
Tomorrow we will begin with Unit 7 Recycling Waste. We have already talked about recycling centers so this topic is already familiar to you. Recycling is a very important aspect of environmental conservation. Many things can be recycled, but some things cannot. Things can also be recycled in two ways: making something new from something old, or using something old in a new way. In this unit we will discuss recycling waste and begin to understand more about the recycling process.
That's all for this blog! See you in class tomorrow!
